Parliament has summoned the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni to explain the controversial increment of tuition at Makerere University.
The directive by the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga this afternoon comes after a complaint raised by National Female Youth MP Anne Edeke regarding the increment.
Adeke says that the increment decided without consultation has created tension within the university and its neighborhood due to an impending strike by students.
The Speaker has thus directed that the minister reports to Parliament next week with a formal explanation.
