The Parliamentary Adhoc committee investigating the oil sector is asking for a 2months extension of its mandate.
The committee was set up in October last year to investigate allegations of corruption in the oil sector.
This is after Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, Internal affairs Minister Hillary Onek and foreign affairs minister Sam Kutesa were alleged to have taken bribes to favor some oil companies against others.
The ministers have however denied the accusations, which they say were just meant taint their reputations.
The committee’s work was however disrupted by a temporary court order that was only lifted this week, gifted the probe team a go ahead.
Committee chairperson Micheal Werikhe says the committee still has a lot of work to do, yet the 3months it was given to conclude the work have elapsed.
The members are now seeking the approval of the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to extend their mandate.
Werikhe says they still need to gather evidence from more witnesses and to visit some of the banks where the bribery monies were allegedly channeled to, in Malta and Dubia.
