A senior police officer is crying foul after he reportedly lost Sh70m to conmen disguising as witch doctors.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Frank Liga, also Officer in Charge of Nakasero Police Post is aid to have lost the money to fraudsters two weeks ago and has since been trying to hunt for the suspects in vain.

Liga was reportedly hoodwinked by three young men who claimed they had received vision that he would soon be fired from his job.

The trio then advised him to meet a witch who could give him some charms to keep him on his job.

Liga has confirmed to Daily Monitor that he indeed lost the money but prefers to keep the matter out of the media since it would embarrass his profession, reputation and family.

This however not an isolated case, last year a UPDF captain was last year conned of Shs1.5m by a witch doctor in Jinja District.

The army officer had approached the traditional healer to get herbs that could help bring his divorced wife back home. Police arrested the witchdoctor after the soldier filed a case.

Similarly, in April this year, police arrested a man who allegedly obtained money from police officers to reportedly help them get promotions and juicy deployments, posing as a son to the Inspector General of Police, Martins Okoth Ochola.
