The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP)has reported a funding gap of upto Sh 27bn.
This has been revealed by the DPP Mike Chibita while appearing before the legal and parliamentary affairs committee.
The DPP told Members of the committee that failure to have this money is affecting activities like preparation of witnesses and prosecution of specialized offenses
The DPP has also revealed that they need 1bn shillings to for security of its senior officers.
The DPP says that while the police have already offered security to officials handling sensitive cases, more funds are needed to sustain this arrangement for the remaining part of this financial year.
The provision of security followed the assassination of the deputy DPP Joan Kagezi last month by unknown people.
