The Electoral Commission (EC) announced on Monday a seven-day extension of the general update of the National Voters’ Register. The exercise, originally scheduled to end on February 11, will now continue until Monday, February 17, 2025.<\/p>\n
EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama told reporters that this one-week extension is final.<\/p>\n
“There will be no further extension. During the extension period, the exercise will continue to be conducted at update stations starting from 8 AM to 6 PM as has been the case,” he said.<\/p>\n
The decision follows concerns raised by various stakeholders and a surge of Ugandans at EC update centers trying to meet the initial deadline.<\/p>\n
The exercise is being conducted at update stations in every parish across the country, every day of the week, including weekends.<\/p>\n
Eligible citizens can register, registered voters can apply for transfers to new voting locations, and voters can confirm their registration details, among other activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
