The Ministry of Education has asked Makerere University Council to ensure that the university is open within two weeks. <\/span><\/p>\n

Yesterday, the university was closed indefinitely after management failed to meet the 100% pay rise demands by lecturers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Education Minister Jessica Alupo says the university council should take the necessary steps to ensure that the willing lecturers resume work.<\/span><\/p>\n

She says the government supports the decision to close the university since the 100% increment is not affordable in the short term. <\/span><\/p>\n
