\u00a0<\/strong>The\u00a0Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) has set October 15th<\/sup> 2024 as the date to start hearing of evidence against former Lord\u2019s Resistance Army commander Joseph Kony.<\/p>\n

This developed has been\u00a0revealed by the ICC Registrar Osvaldo Zaval Giler on his visit to Uganda.<\/p>\n

He said this is meant to determine whether or not the 33 charges can be confirmed against him.<\/p>\n

The confirmation of charges proceedings will be held in absence of Kony whose warrant of arrest has been pending for 19 years.<\/p>\n

Osvaldo has explained that whatever the\u00a0outcome\u00a0of the pre-trial hearing, Kony’s major trial on war crime charges cannot commence without his arrest.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019 the chamber acknowledged that it will take time before anything were actually provided to the victims and that not all victims will receive the symbolic preoperational award at the same time.\u2019\u2019 Mr. Osvaldo said.<\/p>\n

He has further\u00a0 revealed that while Dominic Ongwen sits in a Norway prison serving his 25-year sentence for crimes against humanity committed during the 29 years of Northern Uganda conflict, implementation of the 52.5million Euros Reparation Award for his victims is already underway with stake holders consultations being done despite an appeal lodged by Ongwen.<\/p>\n
