When Isaac Zebra Ssen<\/span>yange Jr and Muzamir Ssemuddu <\/span>fought on December 26, 2022, the last <\/span>night of Season One of the Uganda Box<\/span>ing Champions League ended in chaos.<\/span><\/p>\n

Angry fans threw plastic chairs and <\/span>bottles into the ring area,raging towards <\/span>judges for declaring Zebra a 3-2 victor. <\/span>For over half an hour, everyone feared <\/span>the tension could get worse.<\/span><\/p>\n

To date, Ssemuddu vows to knock out <\/span>his opponents to avoid judges\u2019 bias. So <\/span>far, he has walked that talk, stopping De<\/span>park Mawanda and Richard Kasujja in <\/span>the league.<\/span><\/p>\n

But all his rage and vengeance is re<\/span>served for Zebra for that \u2018robbery\u2019 at <\/span>Akamwesi Complex, Kyebando nearly a <\/span>year ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

Quality punches<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Yet Zebra insists he deserved to win be- <\/span>cause he landed more quality punch<\/span>es. And Saturday, Week 15 of the league <\/span>is the chance for both to settle the score.<\/span><\/p>\n

Like at Akamwesi,Ssemuddu will be in <\/span>the red corner of Lugogo Indoor Arena, <\/span>Zebra in the blue one. But Zebra says a <\/span>lot has changed on his side, which gives <\/span>him an edge.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSince December I have fought at the <\/span>World Boxing Championships, won one <\/span>fight and lost one. <\/span>At the Olympic qualifiers in Dakar, I <\/span>won two and lost one.Locally,I have won <\/span>both my fights,\u201d Zebra told <\/span>Daily Moni<\/span><\/strong><\/em>tor<\/strong><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the African Confederation Champi- <\/span>onships in Yaounde, Cameroon, in Au<\/span>gust, Ssemuddu was stopped in the pre<\/span>liminaries by Tiago Muxanga, the Mo<\/span>zambican light middleweight who won <\/span>silver at the 2022 Birmingham Com<\/span>monwealth Games in the United King<\/span>dom.<\/span><\/p>\n

Form man<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI have learnt and improved a lot com<\/span>pared to Muzamir, who has only three <\/span>fights. And his only fight abroad he was <\/span>stopped. <\/span>So if you base your prediction on form, clearly you know who the winner will be.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But sport is unpredictable, especially against a familiar opponent, more so driven by vengeance. Still, Zebra is confident.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMost boxers do the same thing for years. They never change. But the Zebra of 2021 is different from the Zebra of 2022 and the one of 2022 is different from the one of 2023.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Zebra had a fantastic show against Broline Kimbugwe last month. Kimbugwe and Ssemuddu share some physical and technical attributes. So should we expect the same approach?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYes and no. Broline and Muzamir have almost the same style so I might use the same approach. But I always fight according to the opponent\u2019s approach,\u201dZebra said. <\/span><\/p>\n
