The<\/span> Rwenzururu<\/span> king, <\/span>Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma, <\/span>has asked subjects, especially politicians, <\/span>to promote peace, security, unity, and co<\/span>existence. <\/span>He made the statement during a <\/span>thanksgiving service at St Paul Cathedral <\/span>in South Rwenzori Diocese in Kasese Dis<\/span>trict at the weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPoliticians divide the kingdom and her <\/span>people because of their selfish interests <\/span>and motives, all these practices should <\/span>immediately stop. Anyone who is plan<\/span>ning to come and see me with the inten<\/span>tion of winning favours from me so that <\/span>the people should think he or she is clean <\/span>should not come to the palace,\u201d Omusin<\/span>ga said.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said some people had misrepresent<\/span>ed the kingdom to the government, mak<\/span>ing it seem as if the king harboured ani<\/span>mosity towards other ethnic groups in <\/span>the Rwenzori Sub-region.<\/span><\/p>\n

Omusinga also addressed the issue con<\/span>cerning Yira state and explained that the <\/span>kingdom had faced confusion with the <\/span>central government, which he attribut<\/span>ed to what he referred to as\u201c <\/span>Kabudunga\u201d <\/span>or traitors within the kingdom who had <\/span>caused disruption and instability.<\/span><\/p>\n

He clarified that the events of 2016 had <\/span>been triggered by false allegations that <\/span>the kingdom was involved in a seces<\/span>sion plot from Uganda.He went on to em<\/span>phasise that even if the Kingdom had in<\/span>deed contemplated establishing a sepa<\/span>rate state,they would not have chosen the <\/span>name\u201cYira\u201d for it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, he stated that if he had <\/span>genuinely intended to pursue secession, <\/span>he would have left the kingdom and mo<\/span>bilised supporters outside the institution, <\/span>rather than remaining within it.<\/span><\/p>\n


\u201cTraitors should come and we work to<\/span>gether before they feed the central gov<\/span>ernment with false information, am al<\/span>so asking the central government to first <\/span>come and get clear information from us <\/span>before they plan to wage military opera<\/span>tions on innocent people and intuitions <\/span>like they did when they attacked us,\u201d <\/span>Omusinga said.<\/span><\/p>\n

He revealed that prior to his return on <\/span>October 4, he had engagements with <\/span>President Museveni on strategies to foster <\/span>peace and the development in the sub-re<\/span>gion. <\/span>During her address, Queen Agnes It<\/span>hungu Asimawe, said she would revive <\/span>the Rwenzururu Nyabaghole Develop<\/span>ment Foundation to mentor young girls <\/span>in various aspects, including reproduc<\/span>tive health.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
