Government has partnered with Buganda Kingdom to sensitize the community to minimize the spread of Tuberculosis (TB) in the 18 counties which make up the Buganda region.<\/p>\n
Buganda Kingdom’s Information Minister and spokesperson, Noah Kiyimba says, currently, Buganda region is grappling with a lot of diseases because the community is not sensitized to prevent themselves from the said diseases.<\/p>\n
He says 70% of the diseases affecting the community in Buganda are preventable.<\/p>\n
The minister made the remarks while addressing Kingdom leaders including; parish chiefs from the Buganda Kingdom, and saza chiefs who attended the Tuberculosis sensitization conference organized by the Ministry of Health to spearhead the eradication of Tuberculosis.<\/p>\n
“We have a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health and the key objective basically is to see that Kabaka’s subjects are okay health-wise,” Kiyimba said.<\/p>\n
According to Kiyimba, 30% of the homesteads in the Greater Masaka region lack toilets and this is why majority of the people spend most of their time in hospitals treating diseases that are preventable.<\/p>\n
According to the statistics from the Ministry of Health, about 90,000 Ugandans are still developing TB annually including 1,500 multi-drug resistant TB. Also, an estimated 15,600 deaths due to TB are registered in the country yearly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
