{"id":5742,"date":"2013-04-10T10:22:59","date_gmt":"2013-04-10T10:22:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/?p=5742"},"modified":"2013-04-10T10:22:59","modified_gmt":"2013-04-10T10:22:59","slug":"adam-kalungi-is-denied-bail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/adam-kalungi-is-denied-bail\/","title":{"rendered":"Adam Kalungi is denied bail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Kalungi-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5743\" alt=\"Kalungi 3\" src=\"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Kalungi-3.jpg\" width=\"274\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Kalungi-3.jpg 274w, https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Kalungi-3-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Kalungi-3-186x125.jpg 186w, https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Kalungi-3-99x67.jpg 99w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 274px) 100vw, 274px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Adam Kalungi has been denied bail.<\/p>\n<p>Kalungi, is a key suspect in the murder of the former Butaleja Woman MP Cerinah Nebanda.<\/p>\n<p>The Makindye Court chief Magistrate Esther Nambayo denied him bail on grounds that there is a possibility of him absconding.<\/p>\n<p>She had granted him bail earlier in February but his release was failed by the fact that his sureties failed to present land titles, registered in their names.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate says she has since received information from the Kenyan minister in charge of immigration confirming that Kalungi entered the country and stayed in Nairobi illegally.<\/p>\n<p>His worship Nambayo says this information justifies fears by the prosecution that he could abscond from the trial.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the 4<sup>th<\/sup> witness, 65 year old Grace Kigenyi, exonerated Kalungi.<\/p>\n<p>He told Court that he had never seen Kalungi take drugs.<\/p>\n<p>He however said that on 14<sup>th<\/sup> December 2012 Kalungi told him that he left his girlfriend Nebanda at home, but on going back to his home at 3pm, found her unconscious and found a bottle of wine cocaine and heroin on the table.<\/p>\n<p>Kigenyi further told court that Kalungi ran away because he feared \u00a0\u00a0to be arrested for a crime he did not commit.<\/p>\n<p>The trial continues till the 14<sup>th<\/sup> April.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adam Kalungi has been denied bail.
