Hon. Kafuuzi Karugaba Jackson, the current Deputy Attorney General and Kyaka South Member of Parliament has expressed interest in the position of Speaker of Parliament.<\/p>\n

Hon. Kafuuzi was the second person to express interest.<\/p>\n

“If CEC and my party caucus endorse me as a candidate, I will resign from my position as Deputy Attorney General,” he said.<\/p>\n

The party will on Thursday sit to pick it’s the flag bearer for the contest that’s slated for Friday.<\/p>\n

Kafuuzi says he gained enough experience from Speaker Oulanyah and the former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga which makes him a suitable candidate.<\/p>\n

Kafuuzi says Oulanyah was a leader who inspired many of the young MPs in parliament and he knew how to do his job perfectly as a speaker.<\/p>\n

Mr Kafuuzi graduated with a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University in 2002 and obtained a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre in 2003. From that time, he has been in service as a Legal Officer and later as an Advocate at Rwakafuuzi & Co. Advocates, until 2016 when he joined parliament.<\/a><\/p>\n

Arua Central MP Jackson Atima Buti has also expressed interest to hold NRM’s flag in the upcoming race for Parliament’s Speakership, to replace the late Jacob Oulanyah.<\/p>\n

He is the 3rd NRM MP to declare his intentions to the party<\/p>\n
