{"id":49497,"date":"2021-08-02T11:52:07","date_gmt":"2021-08-02T08:52:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kfm.co.ug\/?p=49497"},"modified":"2021-08-02T11:52:07","modified_gmt":"2021-08-02T08:52:07","slug":"father-sentenced-for-47years-over-sons-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/father-sentenced-for-47years-over-sons-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"Father sentenced for 47years over son\u2019s murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Ruth Anderah<\/strong><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">Court of Appeal has upheld a 47year and 9 months imprisonment sentence that was handed to a father for murdering his 2year old biological \u00a0son.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">Lasto Tomusange was convicted and sentenced on his own plea of guilty over ritually motivated killing by Mpigi High Court.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">Tomusange was jointly charged with his brother Richard Bulega who was also convicted and sentenced to 37years and 8 months after a full trial.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">However, \u00a0being dissatisfied with the sentence they both appealed saying the sentence was harsh and excessive.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">Now three justices led by Deputy Chief Justice Richard Buteera have ordered Tomusange to serve his 47year and 9 months imprisonment term \u00a0but to start counting \u00a0from March 17th 2015 the day when he was \u00a0convicted.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">Meanwhile Richard Bulega&#8217;s sentence has been reduced from 37years to 32years.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">Its alleged that \u00a0on August 23rd 2012, the convicts with malice aforethought unlawfully killed their son Angello Ssebugwawo.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">The minor first disappeared and his body were recovered from Nsunjjumpolwe village, Kiringente sub-county in Mpigi district after three days.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ruth Anderah Court of Appeal has upheld a 47year and 9 months imprisonment sentence that was handed to a father for murdering his 2year old biological \u00a0son.
