{"id":46085,"date":"2021-03-23T08:17:43","date_gmt":"2021-03-23T05:17:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kfm.co.ug\/?p=46085"},"modified":"2021-03-23T08:17:43","modified_gmt":"2021-03-23T05:17:43","slug":"only-200-teachers-to-attend-this-years-teachers-symposium-due-to-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/only-200-teachers-to-attend-this-years-teachers-symposium-due-to-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Only 200 teachers to attend this year\u2019s teacher\u2019s symposium due to covid-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Damali Mukhaye<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only 200 teachers from across the country will physically attend this year\u2019s Teacher\u2019s Symposium due to covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Centre<strong>,<\/strong> Jonathan Kamwana, the Commissioner Teacher, Instructor Education and Training said the purpose of this year\u2019s symposium is to provide a platform for teachers and stakeholders to share ideas to fast track digitization of the teaching workforce for both on and off school learning.<\/p>\n<p>He says that shortly after the second symposium, the world was hit by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic and education like other sectors was badly affected.<\/p>\n<p>Kamwana says all education institutions were closed and for learning to continue there was need to transform the mode of education service delivery to include use of ICT and this required infrastructure, which was not readily available, coupled with \u00a0inadequate competences of the teaching personnel in the use of ICT.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s teacher\u2019s symposium will be held <a href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/0\">from Wednesday March 24<\/a><sup><a href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/0\">th<\/a><\/sup><a href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/0\"> to Friday 26<\/a><sup><a href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/0\">th<\/a><\/sup> under the theme \u201cA digitally competent teaching force for the 21st Century.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, upto 500 teachers attended the symposium<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Damali Mukhaye Only 200 teachers from across the country will physically attend this year\u2019s Teacher\u2019s Symposium due to covid-19 pandemic.
