{"id":45580,"date":"2021-03-02T10:22:50","date_gmt":"2021-03-02T07:22:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kfm.co.ug\/?p=45580"},"modified":"2021-03-02T10:22:50","modified_gmt":"2021-03-02T07:22:50","slug":"kyagulanyi-runs-to-high-court-over-his-vehicle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/kyagulanyi-runs-to-high-court-over-his-vehicle\/","title":{"rendered":"Kyagulanyi runs to High court over his vehicle"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">Former presidential candidate and NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has run to the High court seeking a permanent injunction against \u00a0the continued threats by the commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Atihority from impounding \u00a0and re-examing his recently acquired \u00a0motorvehicle; \u00a0a Toyata Land cruiser ( UBJ \u00a0667F).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Kyagulanyi contends the acts of the commissioner General in \u00a0threatening to impound his vehicle are \u00a0an infringement of his guaranteed \u00a0constitutional rights to quietly enjoy and possess his property.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Kyagulanyi \u00a0claims \u00a0that \u00a0since his participation as a candidate in the recently concluded presidential election where NRM&#8217;s Tibahaburwa was declared winner , he has been a target by security and other government agencies thus forcing him to start \u00a0wearing \u00a0bullet proof jackets and headgears and hence further need to acquire such a car with special protection.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The NUP candidate who was returned second in the January polls also avers in his application that he currently uses the contentious car as his only means of transport because all his other vehicles such as the Tundura have either been impounded and parked at Arua Central Police station \u00a0or damaged by security forces beyond repair .<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He therefore asks the Highcourt to intervene and order URA off his vehicle as re-posessing this car will not only render his \u00a0movements difficult but also will hinder him from \u00a0getting the protection he sought \u00a0for from this car , since \u00a0the tax body doesnot even specify how long it will take while re-examining the car.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">His case file registered yesterday is yet to be allocated to a judge for hearing.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former presidential candidate and NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has run to the High court seeking a permanent injunction against \u00a0the continued threats by the commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Atihority from impounding \u00a0and re-examing his recently acquired \u00a0motorvehicle; \u00a0a Toyata Land cruiser ( UBJ \u00a0667F).
