{"id":43235,"date":"2019-09-27T17:05:15","date_gmt":"2019-09-27T14:05:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/?p=43235"},"modified":"2019-09-27T17:05:15","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T14:05:15","slug":"high-court-orders-ag-and-igp-to-produce-kaweesi-murder-suspects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/high-court-orders-ag-and-igp-to-produce-kaweesi-murder-suspects\/","title":{"rendered":"High Court orders AG and IGP to produce Kaweesi murder suspects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Ruth Anderah.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Kampala High Court \u00a0has ordered the Attorney General , the current Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola and the commandant SIU Elly Womanya to produce in court \u00a0the bodies of the 3 re-arrested Kaweesi murder suspects dead or alive by not later than next week September 30th 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects to be produced are \u00a0Yusuf Mugerwa, Jibril Kalyango and Yusuf Nyanzi.<\/p>\n<p>The said order has been issued by justice Henrrieta Wolayo today after their lawyers successfully argued an application of harbeaus corpus that they lodged in court last week .<\/p>\n<p>The three men were on September 11th 2019 \u00a0re-arrested by plain clothed gun wielding men alongside their lawyer James Mubiru at the International Crimes Division of the High Court immediately they had been released on bail.<\/p>\n<p>According to their advocates, since then their clients have never been produced before any courts of law and their where abouts are not yet known.<\/p>\n<p>This prompted the lawyers in support of \u00a0their relatives to petition court for orders compelling the heads of security agencies in the country to produce them dead or alive \u00a0because their continued detention beyond 48 hours \u00a0in ungazatted places is a violation of their personal liberties .<\/p>\n<p>However in court today an attorney from the office of the Attorney General has informed court that he contacted the office of the DPP \u00a0and it \u00a0disclosed that they have pending charges which they have to sanction against the trio.<\/p>\n<p>Now Justice Wolayo has ordered that the 3 accused persons who are battling charges of murdering former police spoke&#8217;s person Andrew Felix Kaweesi, his body guard Kenneth Erau and Driver Godfrey Wambewa on March 17th \u00a02017 be \u00a0produced before her on Monday at 2pm.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Related Stories&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/news\/police-challenged-to-speed-up-kaweesi-murder-investigations.html\">Police challenged to speed up Kaweesi Murder investigations<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ruth Anderah.
