{"id":39232,"date":"2019-01-03T11:09:00","date_gmt":"2019-01-03T08:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/?p=39232"},"modified":"2019-01-03T11:09:00","modified_gmt":"2019-01-03T08:09:00","slug":"pastors-to-meet-over-governments-recent-move-to-regulate-churches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/pastors-to-meet-over-governments-recent-move-to-regulate-churches\/","title":{"rendered":"Pastors to meet over government\u2019s recent move to regulate churches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Benjamin Jumbe.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pentecostal pastors are set to hold a meeting this morning in Kampala over government\u2019s recent move to regulate churches.<\/p>\n<p>It follows a recent announcement by the state minister for ethics and Integrity Rev Fr Simon Lokodo that government had suspended registration of religious and faith-based organisationsuntil a \u201clegal framework\u201d is instituted to monitor operations of Churches.<\/p>\n<p>The minister also said government was set to implement a new policy that will require\u00a0all preachers\u00a0in the country to have\u00a0theological training\u00a0before opening up a church which among other things is aimed at enforcing transparency and financial accountability in religious and faith based institution in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The move has attracted castigation from the Pentecostal pastors who say they were excluded from the policy making process.<\/p>\n<p>Now speaking to Kfm Bishop David Kiganda says today\u2019s meeting is for consultation before a common position is reached which can be forwarded to government for consideration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Benjamin Jumbe.
