{"id":39103,"date":"2018-12-21T10:00:30","date_gmt":"2018-12-21T07:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/?p=39103"},"modified":"2018-12-21T08:07:07","modified_gmt":"2018-12-21T05:07:07","slug":"tanzania-clears-ugandas-maize-and-beans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/tanzania-clears-ugandas-maize-and-beans\/","title":{"rendered":"Tanzania clears Uganda\u2019s Maize and beans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Ritah Kemigisa.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tanzania has cleared Uganda\u2019s dry produce following a bi-lateral meeting between Uganda\u2019s Minister of Trade Amelia Kyambadde and her counterpart of Tanzania Joseph Kakunda.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2018, Ugandan traders at Mutukula border demonstrated over a ban on dry produce like Maize and Beans intended for export to Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>Now the ministry\u2019s Senior Public Relations Officer Khadija Nakakande says after a meeting between the two ministers on Wednesday at the Mutukula One Stop Border Post, the ban is no more.<\/p>\n<p>Nakakande adds that the Tanzanian Government has also agreed to grant import permits to the importers immediately to enable them buy produce from Ugandan traders.<\/p>\n<p>This is after the Tanzania government denied import permits to the Tanzanian importers.<\/p>\n<p>Uganda is running a negative trade balance with Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>Uganda\u2019s exports to Tanzania registered a negative trend from USD 56 million in 2014 to USD 49.8 million in 2017.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ritah Kemigisa.
