{"id":38487,"date":"2018-11-23T19:42:51","date_gmt":"2018-11-23T16:42:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/?p=38487"},"modified":"2018-11-23T20:37:35","modified_gmt":"2018-11-23T17:37:35","slug":"ec-disqualifies-dp-nrm-candidates-from-busia-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/ec-disqualifies-dp-nrm-candidates-from-busia-race\/","title":{"rendered":"EC disqualifies DP, NRM candidates from Busia race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Ritah Kemigisa.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The electoral commission has disqualified the two leading candidates in the Busia LC5 by election.<\/p>\n<p>They include opposition DP\u2019s Hasubi Deogratius Njoki and the ruling NRM\u2019s Boniface Oguttu.<\/p>\n<p>The decision by the electoral commission follow petitions by both the DP and NRM against the nomination names of the duo.<\/p>\n<p>According to the commission chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama, DP\u2019s candidate Deo Njoki has been disqualified on grounds that he is not a registered because the names used in his nomination are not in the national voters register.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the NRM candidate has been disqualified on grounds that the names he presented on his nomination papers do not match with those on his academic documents.<\/p>\n<p>The Busia LC5 chairperson\u2019s seat fell vacant in May after the Court of Appeal threw out Ouma Adea who was convicted for corruption in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The by-election which was slated for November 28<sup>th<\/sup> had attracted five candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Given the duo\u2019s disqualification, the race remains with three candidates namely; Chrispus Bwire, Tony Ojambo and Geoffrey Wandera, all independents.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ritah Kemigisa.
