{"id":35178,"date":"2018-05-28T12:02:17","date_gmt":"2018-05-28T12:02:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/?p=35178"},"modified":"2018-05-28T12:02:50","modified_gmt":"2018-05-28T12:02:50","slug":"mukulu-pre-trial-hearing-flops-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/mukulu-pre-trial-hearing-flops-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Mukulu pre-trial hearing flops again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Ruth Anderah.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The pre-trial hearing session of former ADF leader JamiluMukulu and 37 others has for the second time failed to take-off before the International Crimes Division of the High Court.<\/p>\n<p>This is after prosecution failed to meet the deadlines given by court on May 14<sup>th<\/sup>to disclose all the evidence to be used against the suspects to the defence lawyers and to file an amended charge sheet in court.<\/p>\n<p>This morning\u00a0as Mukulu and his co-accused appeared before the Court, the Assistant DPP John Baptist Asiimwe informed presiding judge Eva Luswata that the prosecution team\u00a0has\u00a0been\u00a0unable to disclose the evidence and exhibits within the previous 2 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Asiimwe has\u00a0however explained\u00a0that they have\u00a0managed to meet and interview witnesses and to secure the indictment from Jinja Magistrate&#8217;s court which committed the accused for trial.<\/p>\n<p>Asiimwe has thus asked court to grant prosecution\u00a02 more weeks to\u00a0enable it put its house in order.<\/p>\n<p>Court\u00a0has now adjourned the\u00a0case to June 14<sup>th<\/sup> with a directive\u00a0that the timelines for disclosure be strictly adhered to.<\/p>\n<p>Mukulu and others are facing charges of terrorism, murder, crimes against humanity, aiding &amp;abetting terrorism, attempted murder and aggravated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ruth Anderah.
