The General Court Martial at Makindye\u00a0 has set the 8th\/November 2016\u00a0 to commence the\u00a0 hearing of a treachery case against the Jailed\u00a0 Nakawa Municipality MP\u00a0 Michael Kabaziguruka.<\/p>\n
This after the Amy court lead prosecutor Maj. Raphael Mugisha informed the 7 member court chaired\u00a0 by Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti that invetigations\u00a0 are complete and he is ready to summon witnesses to testify against the accused.<\/p>\n
Kabazi\u0123uruka together with 25 other people including 22 UPDF officers are said to have contrived a plot to overthrow the gvt of Uganda by use of fire arms,\u00a0 an offence the prosecution says was committed between\u00a0 February and June this year in the districts of Kampala,\u00a0 Wakiso and Luweero .<\/p>\n
These are currently held on remand at Kigo gvt prison and Makindye Millitary police barracks respectively.<\/p>\n
However Kabazi\u0123uruka has\u00a0 since challenged this trial in the Court of Appeal and\u00a0 refused to\u00a0 plead to the charges on grounds that he is not a millitary officer to be tried by the Millitary court.<\/p>\n
The youthful MP also moved to apply for bail before the Highcourt -Criminal division saying the General Court Martial does not grant bail to civilian suspects who appear before it.<\/p>\n
