Opposition political parties are saying that the arrest of renegade general David Sejusa is meant to intimidate the public.
\nGen. Sejusa who was arrested on Sunday is currently held at Makindye Military barracks.
\nForum for Democratic Change (FDC) Spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda says the arrest cannot deter people from pushing for what they believe in.
\nRelatedly Democratic Party\u2019s Secretary General Mathias Nsubuga says this is a clear sign that government is trying to create panic and fear ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
\nBut NRM\u2019s deputy Treasurer Dr.Kenneth Omona has refuted all views by the Opposition, adding that since Gen. Sejusa is still a serving officer, only the military can give details about his fate;
\nMeanwhile the lawyers representing detained General David Ssejusa have visited him at Makindye military Barracks.
\nLed by David Mushabe and Mike Mabikke, the lawyers are concerned that the army has not listed the charges Sejusa is likely to face and that his family members have also been barred from visiting him.
\nThe lawyers were by this evening processing his bail application papers.
\nEarlier the government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo said Gen Sejusa\u2019s arrest should act as a warning to all serving army and police officers to desist from making reckless political statements.<\/p>\n
