{"id":18126,"date":"2015-05-22T16:18:44","date_gmt":"2015-05-22T16:18:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/?p=18126"},"modified":"2015-05-22T16:18:44","modified_gmt":"2015-05-22T16:18:44","slug":"government-chief-engineer-bagonza-acquitted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/government-chief-engineer-bagonza-acquitted\/","title":{"rendered":"Government Chief Engineer Bagonza Acquitted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The interdicted Government chief engineer Samson Bagonza has been set free by Court of Appeal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Engineer Bagonza was in June\/2010 sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for abuse of office and causing a financial loss of 1.6billion shillings during CHOGM preparations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3Justices including Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma, Eldard Mwangushya and Solomy Balungi Bossa overturned the decision of retired Anticorruption court Judge John Bosco Katutsi\u00a0\u00a0and acquitted Bagonza, saying in their own analysis of they found out that there was no loss made.<\/p>\n<p>The Judges also lifted a 10 year ban against Bagonza\u2019s employment in civil service.<\/p>\n<p>Bagonza had been accused of approving the additional construction works on the Entebbe highway between Zana and Kibuye during the CHOGM preparations, contrary to the interests of the works Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>Bagonza\u2019s lawyer, MacDusman Kabega, filed the appeal\u00a0challenging both the conviction and sentence maintaining that no loss was occasioned to govt since the work was performed.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The interdicted Government chief engineer Samson Bagonza has been set free by Court of Appeal.
