One Ugandan is confirmed to have died in yesterday\u2019s attack on a UN van in Somalia.
\nAccording to Catherine Ntabadde the Communication Specialist at UNICEF Uganda, Brenda Kyeyune had managed social mobilization and communication initiatives in support of polio eradication in Somalia since 2014.
\nThe attack on the van left 7 people dead who also included two Kenyans and an Afghan national.<\/p>\n
The others have been identified as Mr. Payenda Gul Abed, who had been coordinating UNICEF\u2019s polio immunization efforts in Garowe since May 2014.\u00a0 Ms. Woki Munyui, who had been supporting UNICEF\u2019s education work in Somalia since 2007 and Mr. Stephen Oduor, who had been undertaking vital administrative work for UNICEF Somalia since 2010.
\nMeanwhile UNICEF says it is still studying the situation in Somalia before it thinks of withdrawing its services.
\nUNICEF regional Chief of Communication James Elder says they are monitoring the security situation in the areas where their staff is working including Garowe.
\nHe says the four injured people have been airlifted to Nairobi for treatment.<\/p>\n
Early this after a car bomb exploded outside a popular restaurant in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
\nAccording to the BBC, 11 people have died in the explosion and several others have been seriously injured.
\nBanooda restaurant is in front of the Central Hotel, which is often frequented by politicians.
