{"id":16239,"date":"2015-01-28T17:37:51","date_gmt":"2015-01-28T17:37:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/?p=16239"},"modified":"2015-01-28T17:37:51","modified_gmt":"2015-01-28T17:37:51","slug":"world-bank-decries-lack-of-information-in-the-oil-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/world-bank-decries-lack-of-information-in-the-oil-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"World Bank decries lack of information in the oil sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_11527\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11527\" style=\"width: 287px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Oil-prodn.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11527\" src=\"http:\/\/kfm.co.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Oil-prodn.jpg\" alt=\"Oil production\" width=\"287\" height=\"176\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11527\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Oil production<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lack of information is hindering the growth of Uganda\u2019s Oil and gas sector.<br \/>\nThis is according to a new report released this morning by the World Bank titled \u201cLeveraging Oil and Gas Industry for the Development of a Competitive Private Sector in Uganda\u201d.<br \/>\nReleasing the report, Valeriya Goffe, the World Bank\u2019s Finance and Private Sector Development Specialist, said the study revealed lack of a centralized place where suppliers can obtain information on opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>She also cited the growing challenges with accessing credit by Oil and Gas suppliers mainly due to lack of long-term resources in financial system among other constraints.<\/p>\n<p>The report recommends that authorities ensure that all suppliers including those in the very bottom of the supply chain and women-owned businesses are informed of available opportunities. Ms Goffe also recommended that the government of Uganda provides comprehensive capacity-building programs to suppliers in the Oil and Gas Industry.<br \/>\nIn response, Fred Kabanda, a senior geologist at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development promised to have all concerns addressed in due course.<br \/>\nThe study that looked at how the oil sector can drive other key sectors and regions of Uganda\u2019s economy was conducted in Uganda\u2019s Albertine region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lack of information is hindering the growth of Uganda\u2019s Oil and gas sector.
