{"id":1130,"date":"2012-02-10T07:24:38","date_gmt":"2012-02-10T07:24:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kfm.co.ug\/?p=1130"},"modified":"2012-02-10T07:24:38","modified_gmt":"2012-02-10T07:24:38","slug":"nrm-concedes-jinja-defeat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kfm.dembefm.ug\/staging_h\/nrm-concedes-jinja-defeat\/","title":{"rendered":"NRM Concedes Jinja defeat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ruling National Resistance Movement has conceded defeat in the Jinja East by-election.<\/p>\n<p>The Forum for Democratic Change candidate Paul Mwiru was announced winner after beating his closest opponent Nathan Igeme Nabeta.<\/p>\n<p>Mwiru beat Nabeta by 1701 votes becoming the winner in the hotly contested race.<\/p>\n<p>The NRM spokesperson Karoro Okurut says they did everything they could to win the race and will respe<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kfm.co.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karoroo-Press-Conference.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1131\" title=\"Karoroo-Press-Conference\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kfm.co.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karoroo-Press-Conference.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a>ct the choice of the voters.<\/p>\n<p>Karoro however says the party is not shaken by the loss, adding that it still maintains its numerical strength in Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>5 candidates contested for the seat that fell vacant after the High Court nullified the election of former MP Nathan Nabeta.<\/p>\n<p>DP\u2019s Alex Waiswa polled 291, independent Cranmar Dhikusoka got 28, while UPC\u2019s Osinde Richie got 16 votes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ruling National Resistance Movement has conceded defeat in the Jinja East by-election.
